Experience the Land

Old Rivers Organic Farm isn’t just a place to grow, it’s a place to connect. Set high above the Qu’Appelle Valley with panoramic views of lakes, fields, and native prairie, the farm offers a glimpse into Saskatchewan’s natural and agricultural heritage. Every corner tells a story, from the old Chicago windmill to the quiet hum of the fields below. Here, visitors can experience the beauty, history, and authenticity of prairie life in a setting that has remained largely unchanged for over a century.

Beyond organic farming, Old Rivers serves as a living landscape for learning and creativity. The farm’s open spaces, historic charm, and thriving ecosystem make it an inspiring backdrop for tours, research, and storytelling. Whether you’re studying native prairie grasses, capturing the golden light of the valley, or planning future educational visits, Old Rivers welcomes those who share an appreciation for the land and all it represents.

  • Caring for the Land and Wildlife
At Old Rivers Organic Farm, conservation is a core part of everything we do. We focus on protecting natural habitats, supporting local wildlife, and maintaining a healthy, chemical-free ecosystem that benefits both the farm and the surrounding environment.

    Our Conservation Practices:
Rescue Animals on the Farm – All our animals are rescues and receive excellent care. Cats, dogs, and horses help maintain the farm’s health, with cats keeping rodents away from grain bins and buildings.

Wildlife-Friendly Lands – Deer, badgers, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, and porcupines inhabit the nearby hills, while wild birds feed on residual grain stubble during migration.

No Hunting Allowed – We protect all animals on the property; hunting is not permitted on the ground, in the air, or in the fields.
Preserved Habitats – Trees, forested areas, and wetlands remain intact to provide shelter and breeding grounds for birds and other wildlife.

Chemical-Free Soil – The soil is kept healthy naturally through undercrop rotation with clover, peas, alfalfa, and weeds, without using fertilizers or chemicals.
